For the past few years I've gotten used to getting my workouts done in the mornings complete with a smoothie for breakfast, but after deciding a couple weeks ago to switch to a diet high in fats and low in carbs & sugar, I needed to figure out how to covert my smoothies to a high fat - low carbohydrate ratio.
I was drinking shakeology daily, but it's loaded with carbs, so this dietary change has been a fun challenge to get creative in the kitchen post-sweat sesh.
I made a trip to Trader Joe's yesterday, and had to look at the nutritional information on every fruit to find that the frozen mixed berry medley had the lowest amount of net carbs per serving (9g). I had lots of high fat foods already on hand, so I came up with this...

Its high in good fat + nutrients!
"Berry Dreamy" Smoothie ingredients:
1 Cup of unsweetened almond milk
3/4 Cup of frozen mixed berrry medley (Rasberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries)
1Tbsp of Hemp seeds (I buy Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts Raw Shelled Hemp Seeds)
1Tbsp of Chia sees
2Tbsp of Artisana Coconut Butter
1 Cup of Baby Spinach
*optional 1/2 scoop of berry flavored protein powder
*optional 1/2 Cup of frozen riced cauliflower
*optional cacao nibs here (Trader Joe's has cocoa nibs for much cheaper)
If using frozen ingredients, Ice isn't necessary.
Add ingredients to a high speed blender ( I use a vitamix and blend on the smoothie setting).
Blend
Pour in a glass
Enjoy!
